Description
This is a major example of the remarkable work by Zuni carver, Dan Quam. He left us in October of 1971, at age 72. He first began to carve fetishes in 1981 and he is attributed with being the main force behind developing the art of realism in Zuni fetishes. He produced a variety of animals but this saber-tooth tiger reaches the pinnacle of his carving perfection. Created in picasso marble the material’s wonderful contrast and amazing natural contours exquisitely portray the strength, grace and elegance of this saber-tooth cat. If you are a collector of Zuni fetishes this saber-tooth cat belongs in your collection.
