Description
Basketry from the Hupa, Karok and Yurok tribes in Northern California share similar materials and patterns, therefore, unless one has specific provenance it can be almost impossible for most people to tell the difference. Therefore, when referring to this type of basketry, we tend to err on the side of caution. All three tribes use similar materials such as beargrass, conifer root, maidenhair fern and others to make their twined basketry.
