Description
Here is a rare Pima (Akimel O’odham) basket olla. Pima (Akimel O’odham) trays are more commonly seen but ollas are scarce. This was likely a utilitarian piece woven with lovely traditional designs. It is our personal view that the few missing stitches don’t detract from the overall pleasing appearance of the basket. You will love adding this to your collection!
Measures: 8″H x 8.5″D
Circa: 1900-1920
Materials: Martynia (Devil’s Claw) and willow
Condition: Very good with a few missing stitches and a bit of faded writing on the bottom
(see photo).
